This is the Oligoscan Analysis Interpretation Manual from HQ. I believe this was published over 10 years ago. It was translated from French into English, so please excuse some of the verbage/translation. Although a bit antiquated, there is a lot of useful information in this Manual.

Sulfur Conjugation
Q- How is the Blockage Suspicion for heavy metal elimination, possibly from Sulfur Conjugation, being calculated? Is the result/ratio calculated using the Zinc, Sulphur (essential for detox), and a combination of the heavy metal data? In my case, both Zn and S only changed a tiny bit. Or is this a completely independent measurement, like Oxidative Aggression?
A- The sulfo-conjugation index, is a calculated marker and not a measurement. This index is calculated using the measurement of sulfur in relation to the overall mineral balance. This means that we will determine if the possible lack of sulfur is an isolated deficiency or a general state of all the minerals (low). It is the presence of sulfur in the body that largely determines phase 2 of the liver detox.

What is it that we are comparing?

We are comparing Vit D in venous serum compared to its uptake into tissue with Oligoscan. Vit D is required for the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus from the small intestine. It regulates the urinary loss of these minerals, and maintains them in serum and in tissue - both soft and osseus tissue. Although classed as a Vitamin, it is a pro-hormone, known as 25 Hydroxy- Vit D (25 OH Vit D) and is produced enogenously via liver and kidney from either sun exposure or dietary supplement. Vit D2 (ergocalciferol) is manufactured commercially, and not considered as bio-available as Vit D3 (cholecalciferol), which is sourced naturally from food.
There are three questions which are relevant:
What is the minimum agreed cut off for serum Vit D deficiency and in relation to what health
areas has this been established? What laboratory methodologies are used to assay Vit D and will different methods cause result
inconsistencies? What are the factors that will prevent uptake of Vit D into tissue? Issue #1 - what is the agreed cut off level for Vit D deficiency and in relation to what health areas?
In relation to 25 OH Vit D: there are longstanding measurement disagreements about the cut off point for deficiency, ie should the optimal level be 50 or 75 nmol/L?
In 2010, the Institute of Medicine (USA) concluded that bone health is the only condition for which a causal association with vitamin D has been established, and that a level of 50 nmol/L is sufficient to optimise bone health in the majority of the population. In other words, IOM did not take into account other potential health consequences of a Vitamin D level velow 50 nmol/L; they considered only the relevance to bone density and calcium uptake.1
The same cut-off point of 50 nmol/L was adopted in Europe by the recommendation of the European Food Safety Authority. In Australasia, the official reference range is 50 to 250 nmol/L, for the same reasons. The cut off point for deficiency at 50 nmol/L has been adopted by he Working Group of the Australian and New Zealand Bond and Mineral Society, the Endocrine Society of Australia and the Osteoporosis Australia.
But what about optimal Vit D in relation to other health risks, among them the diseases in the list below. The above Working Group and allied societies did not consider these health implications at all. If we take a wider perspective about these possible health consequences in genetically susceptible individuals, the wider reference range of 50 to 250 nmol/L becomes relevant. We would want to see our patients with their Vit D in the higher end of the reference range.

Issue #2 Which lab/methodology is most accurate?
Does the lab use a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), a superior but more costly method, or the more common, cheaper and faster basic automated immunoassay?
This is one of the problems in achieving consistent measurements from lab to lab. In one study of 1090 pathology labs around the world, where the same sample was used to determine Vit D status, results varied between <20 nmol/L to >100 nmol/L lab to lab.2 Variability across different assays in generating the evidence and interpreting an individual results in light of this evidence leads to considerable uncertainty.
Issue #3 What will affect the bioavailability of Vit D uptake into cells?
This question is the big deal, because we are comparing tissue deposits of Vit D with venous serum/blood spot assays. It is important to take a wider view about bioavailability of Vit D.
An Antagonist: Fluoride
My hypothesis is that fluoride is a Vit D antagonist.
In the two Oligoscan test results below, you can see the very high fluorine level, and the absence of Vit D. Fluorine is an extreme electron scavenger, the most corrosive of all elements, as well as highly reactive. Fluoride appears to attack living tissues, via several mechanisms, rendering strong evidence that it is a non- biological chemical, demonstrating no observed beneficial function or role in organic chemistry, beyond use

as a pesticide or insecticide. It has an insatiable appetite for Calcium in particular. Fluorine and fluorides likely represent a form of chemistry that is incompatible with biological tissues and organ system functions.3
Fluorine or fluoride can have toxic effects on bone tissue and soft tissue at high concentrations. These negative effects include but not limited to cytotoxicity, immunotoxicity, blood toxicity, and oxidative damage. Apoptosis plays an important role in fluoride-induced toxicity of kidney, liver, spleen, thymus, bursa of Fabricius, cecal tonsil, and cultured cells.4
Individuals with nutrient deficiencies are more susceptible to fluoride toxicity, including fluoride’s bone effects. Fluoride supplementation increases the skeleton’s need for calcium (and vitamin D) by increasing the amount of unmineralized tissue (osteoid) in the bone. When insufficient calcium and vitamin D are available to mineralize the osteoid, the bone develops mineralization defects that can both weaken the bone and lead to clinical osteomalacia.5
Bottom line: we don’t have a lot of academic evidence yet, but now that we have both Fluorine and Vit D in our Oligoscan test panel, empirically I think we will begin to see the antagonistic effects of fluorine on Vit D and Calcium metabolism.

Fatigue and breathlessness put down to ‘age’
Comment: she has been taking Vit D 1000iu/day for years, however my assessment is that her high level of fluorine has blocked Vit D uptake. The high Calcium implies Calcium shedding out of bone is beginning.

The disparity between Calcium and Phosphorus implies Calcium is also being shed into tissue and Phosphorus is leaching. The absence of any Vit D, with Fluorine excess, suggests a Vit D blockade.
Magnesium
Low tissue magnesium hinders the uptake of Vitamin D. Magnesium assists in the activation of vitamin D, which helps regulate calcium and phosphate homeostasis to influence the growth and maintenance of

bones. All of the enzymes that metabolize vitamin D seem to require magnesium, which acts as a cofactor in the enzymatic reactions in the liver and kidneys.6

If you have been using Oligoscan for some time, you will know that bio-accumulation of minerals, with the possible exception of Chromium and Phosphorus, is a slow process. My initial impression with the Oligoscan vitamin panel, including Vit D, is that vitamins are more volatile, subject to influences such as stress and nutrition: please take this into account when assessing patient results.
